Traditional Chinese Cupping Therapy is an ancient and traditional therapy that applies negative pressure on the skin surface using glass/plastic/silicone cups. The suction created by these cups stimulates and increase blood flow to the skin, which can help relieve joint and muscle pain, reduce inflammation, accelerate recovery, increase the function of the lymphatic and circulatory systems and increase overall relaxation and well-being.

Cupping therapy has a history of more than 2,000 years in China. The method originally belongs to one of the acupuncture and moxibustion methods.

The therapy has widely been in practice in conjunction with acupuncture and moxibustion in ancient as well as modern times in China.

For a long time, it was mainly used to treat carbuncle sores and other treatment such as in the external treatment of pain management.

If you are experiencing any of the following conditions, please discuss with your practitioner before the treatment

  • Diabetes with complications or an acute infection
  • Taking anticoagulant medication e.g. Aspirin, warfarin etc
  • Severe chronic disease such as heart disease
  • Pregnancy/within 12 weeks after giving birth/menstruating
  • Lymphedema or Anemia
  • New Tattoos (localized area)
  • Recently given blood or undergone a medical procedure

Cupping therapy encourages fresh blood flow and reduces inflammation and leads to quick recovery.

The skin will turn red when negative suction pressure is applied by cups. Blood reaches to the surface of the skin and will improve the circulation and encourage the release of stagnation and toxins.
